Bicycle
The bicycle is the most popular mode of transportation in Amsterdam. It’s not only used to get from point A to point B. The Dutch ride their bikes to get groceries, to go to appointments but also for the sheer enjoyment.
One, two, three
Four, five, six? Single, tandem, we’ve even seen bicycles for up to four people or more if you count the drinking bike tour.
Stolen
In Amsterdam, most bicycles will get stolen eventually. This explains why a lot of residents own bikes that are old and used. That way it hurts less when they disappear.
Here a bike, there a bike
If you’re a pedestrian, make sure to look both ways when crossing the street. Pedestrians can easily get hit by a cyclist if not being careful. They are fast and plenty.
Rain or shine
Rain won’t stop them. You will see cyclists carrying umbrellas while riding their bikes in the rain. Watch the video below to see a few minutes of life on the streets of Amsterdam.

I love biking, although I recently upgraded to a motorcycle for time saving purposes. I easily get through the crazy Nairobi traffic. Great images 🙂
