Leaving Maui
In a week we’ll be leaving Maui, it’s hard to believe that we’ve been here for nearly 5 months. Time does zip by.
We’ve met so many great people and have had plenty of adventures on this little island. Remember all the things we learned or thought we’d never say? And the sleepless night we spent with Hurricane Iselle?
We had an amazing time and look forward to returning for more adventures. We still have a few stories about Maui and some delicious recipes to share but we’ll be writing them from our next destination, Canada.
BC bound
We are headed to British Columbia, we’ll be spending a month house sitting in North Vancouver (thanks to Wandertooth for setting it up). We are making plans for some epic fishing and foraging and looking at possibly buying a car with the help of trusty Vancouver Kijiji (much more economical than renting). We look forward to catching up with friends, cooking some great food and sharing recipes with you.
After that we’ll head over to Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island for one month of salmon fishing. You may remember us going there for salmon season last fall. The off-season in Parksville and Qualicum Beach has its perks. If you want to rent a condo on the ocean, prices drop significantly during the off-season. There’s still plenty of activities to partake in, the only difference is there are no crowds and the weather is a bit cooler. You may be lucky enough to get a whole beach to yourself.
Seafood and recipes
We’re also hoping to make it to Haida Gwaii. It’s definitely a place we’ve wanted to tick off the list for a while and although we lived in Vancouver for 4 years and Vancouver Island for a while we never made it there. Hopefully things work out and we get to finally put a check mark next to that one.
Of course being on the West Coast means fresh seafood and more seafood recipes for you. If you want to make sure you don’t miss a thing, subscribe to our newsletter and get all the tasty details. If there’s anything you can suggest for us to do, see or experience while we’re on the Wet Coast please share in the comments below or email is at info@acooknotmad.com. We love hearing from you and appreciate constructive criticism.

Parting is bittersweet but BC bound is good and I am excited to read what comes next – no doubt it’ll be great.
