When summer finally arrives in Canada it’s like receiving a reward after enduring a long, sometimes bone numbingly cold, winter. In many parts of Canada, summers can be short but Canadians know how to make the most of it by taking pleasure in everything our great country has to offer.
Over the years we’ve spent our summers enjoying time on lakes and rivers, fishing, hiking, biking, swimming, going on road trips and taking advantage of the bounty & freshness of local markets. It’s the time for get togethers, picnics and long weekends.
Summer officially starts for us when we fire up the trusty Weber grill after a long hibernation, tucked in under its cover and inches of snow.
At the height of the summer, turning on the grill for just about every meal means you’re doing something right because everything seems to taste better right off the grill.
Some memorable meals we’ve made on a Weber grill include grilled oysters Rockefeller, cured & smoked bacon, cochinita pibil, spot prawns, salmon, slow cooked ribs and corn on the cob.
The unique flavour imparted by grilling means you don’t need complicated recipes or tons of ingredients and less clean up is definitely a bonus.
Our idea of a good summer is more time outdoors with casual meals and lots of fun and just about always there is a Weber grill with something good cooking.

Yes I can relate – I grew up in Calgary and summer started with camping season on May 24th long weekend. Grilling was always on the agenda – my meals didn’t look quite as sumptuous as your pics though! I plan to be in BC, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec for summer 2016 – so looking forward to it! I am in Austin TX for now but dreaming of summer in Canada 🙂

In a country that is renown for the line ” throw a prawn on the barbie” you can imagine that Australians are big users of the barbeque too. It’s easy cooking for our hot summer days and fresh produce. One of our favourite dishes is to grill freshly caught crayfish.

Oh that sounds delicious!

Here in the U.S. Weber is synonymous with bbq! We love to grill outdoors too and since we live in Southern California, we are lucky enough to grill year round. Your photos make me hungry! Lovely!

You’re spoiled, we have to cram a year’s worth of barbecuing into a few months 😉

Know all about those long winters growing up in Nova Scotia. I even have a Weber grill here in Korea, which is waiting to be moved to Seoul. I can hard wait to fire it up at my new place. I think the first meal will be ribs!

Grilling really makes just about everything taste better. We had a Weber Grill when I was growing up and I still can’t replicate the wonderful taste my Dad got on his. Looks like you’ve really cooked up some fine meals on yours.

Love Canadian summers! Here on the west coast, salmon, oysters, and, when possible, halibut. Yum!
Grilling makes the difference, but must confess – could become addicted to New Brunswick lobster mac and cheese!

Cochinita pebil?
Can you please post the directions to your house?:-)
Never knew you could make it on a Weber grill!

We wouldn’t have anything other than a Weber! There’s nothing better, and even when we relocated to Kaua’i, one of the first things we did was buy a little mini-Weber. Your photos have me salivating!
